They are totally different.The Wall Street Journal is mainly about the economy while the New York Times is more comprehensive .

If so, it is widely accepted that the New York Times has a more liberal slant as compared to the Wall Street Journal, whose readership is more conservative. This largely reflects the political leanings of their owners (namely the New York Times Company vs News Corp).
